Decoy Magazine - Jan./Feb./ 2015 issue -- Vol. 39, No. 1:
Jan.-Feb. 2015 cover

(ON THE COVER): Ohio decoys will be the featured exhibit at the North American Vintage Decoy & Sporting Collectibles Show at the Pheasant Run Resort on April 21-25, 2015. Roughly 40 of the state's finest hunting decoys, many by unknown makers from Ohio's famed 19th century gunning clubs, have been chosen for the exhibit. Many of them are illustrated in this article.
Many collectors find it difficult to come up with an eloquent summary of what defines an Ohio decoy. For the sake of the decoy exhibit and seminar that is planned for the show, we decided to include only those decoys that have folk art appeal and/or significant history. The focus of the article in this issue is on the northern edge of the state. The waterfowling heritage of the Ohio River Valley will appear in an upcoming issue.
